Kasia (Director, Instructor, Performer, DJ Zebrita, Event Manager)
Born in Wellington (N.Z), Kasia has been a dancer since the age of six. Ballet, Jazz and Gymnastics gave her national and international exposure when she was a child and teenager, and at University, she achieved a tertiary qualification related to dance and event management.
After performing in a few Wellington Musical Theatre shows in the late 1990’s, Kasia continued to enjoy dance and, in 1999, was introduced to social Cuban Street-Latin Salsa dancing at the Wellington Performing Arts Centre where she taught until 2005. She has now started her own Salsa Dance business, Salsa Bomba & Events, in the Hutt Valley.
She has been an avid participant of the Wellington Latin community, including dancing at the last few Cuba St Carnival Parades for LatinBeat, and has been DJing Salsa and Merengue music at the fortnightly Salsadrome parties, at the Wellington Performing Arts Centre, since 2000. In 2005 she was one of six NZ National Salsa Competition Judges.
Keen on event management, Kasia has organised many shows including the Reading Courtenay Dance Fest (2005, 2006 & 2007) and the Wellington City Council LatinBeat event in February 2006.
Kasia’s partner dancing philosophies are based in teamwork (such as sticking to your dance role, and using each others body weight) as well as having FUN!
